Piccolo Seeds - "Catnip Nepeta" seeds
€3,90The name "Nepeta" comes from the Etruscan city of Neptic, where this aromatic plant once grew abundantly. In France, where it is known as "Herbe aux Chats," catnip was formerly commonly used as an herbal tea – long before Chinese teas reached the European market.
Today, catnip is primarily known for its special effect on cats: The compound nepetalactone it contains exerts a strong attraction on about two-thirds of all cats. They react with intense rubbing, rolling, licking, and chewing – a real spectacle for cat lovers. The remaining third, however, remains largely unimpressed.
But catnip is not only a hit with animals, but also a pretty, easy-care plant with delicate flowers that should be in every herb garden.
